Business as Usual
As work begins in earnest on the new indoor training facility, the club will remain open for business. The works' compound is being clearly 'fenced' off and access to the club will be up the steps and along the path to the main entrance by the south wall. Car parking will be in the main car park.
The flyer/booking form is being circulated along with this weekly Update. If you want to book your Micro or Min player in to the camp, running from 14-17 April in the morning, please return the form to the Club with payment or email it to JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING
We hope that you are always remembering to answer “yes” when asked at the check-out, “are you collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers?” There is a box in the Club foyer where you can place them. We received balls for the Minis and Micros with last year’s collection
After years in the planning, a significant milestone was reached on Thursday 27 February with the signing of a contract to build the new indoor training facility.
General Meeting Approves Finance for Development
Tuesday's general meeting has cleared the way for the club to push ahead with the indoor training development at Mains Park.
s3s Give Boost to Fundraising
The 2014 fundraising drive was given a great start by the s3s who raised £950 from their "Pedal to Dublin". This week's fundraising update contains information on this and on:
- Gala Dinner
(Saturday 26 April)
- Piggy Banks (now over £4,000)
- Coffee Morning and launch of recipe book (Saturday 08 March)
- Whisky Tasting evening
(Friday 21 March)
Paterson Supports New Study
Former Scotland star Chris Paterson gives his support to new study into concussion.
Read about this year's Youth Dinner (Wednesday 26 March) and about the Easter Rugby Camps for Minis and Micros (Monday 14 to Thursday 17 April).
Whizz with a Quiz!
A team from the Rugby Club brought back another quiz trophy and Bringing up the Rear claimed the honours at this year's Curry Night Quiz.
Active Kids Again
It is that time of year. Sainsbury’s have begun handing our Active Kids Vouchers and will do so until Tuesday 20 May. So there is lots of time for you to gather as many as you can. Do not forget to ask for them. They can be lost in that pile of offers, double nectar point vouchers, and notice of how much you saved in your shopping today!
We have a box in the Club House foyer. Please pop your vouchers in. Over the years this has been a useful means of adding to the kit we buy our youth section. Last year we obtained balls for the Micros and Minis. And like all our appeals, it’s a volume thing - the more you hand in, the more we shall procure.
100 Club - Reminder
All members of the 100 Club will have received an email from Ken between Christmas and New Year reminding everyone about membership and saying that payment by standing order is our preferred option. Many have done as asked but there are still quite a few who have not replied. We suspect that the message might have been overwhelmed in the rush of activity in the Festive Period.
This is by nature of a reminder. Could you just look back and reply to Ken? Or contact him on JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING . Keep your payments up to date and keep it simple.
And if you have not yet joined the 100 Club, why not think about joining. We have 90 members. Let us get up to 100 by the February Draw.
And when is the February Draw? It will be on Friday 21 February the same evening as the monthly quiz.
Featuring Gala Dinner, recycling old electronic devices, s3 sponsored pedal to Dublin and unwanted presents...plus more.

General Meeting Approves Development Plans
The General Meeting on 20 August was a big step forward in our developmental planning. The Meeting gave authority for the Executive to seek Building Control and issue tender forms for the redesigned facility. This milestone means that we are committed in principle to our new training facility – it just needs to be affordable!
